G’day Kids, I’ve been away from the blogoverse for a week. Soooo…. Here are 17 things that have happened since the last time we met:
1) Stayed at Row’s parents’ place for long weekend (+ her dad’s bday)
2) Went to cafe at Erina and sat at TABLE 17 (guess the cafe)
3) 2nd hand book shop at Gosford Primary School – bought Uncle Tom’s Cabin and a record for Row
4) Dan and I lost in tennis to 2 old men
5) Went to cafe in another place and sat at TABLE 17 (guess the suburb)
6) Bummed around at home for a few days – watched GOAL 3 times!
7) Listened to Tim Keller talk on Justice
Read the Bible (not all of it… just bits)
9) Bought The Twilight of Atheism from cheap (1st hand) bookshop in Canberra
10) Reminded that over 100,000 Australians have died in wars (War Memorial)
11) Walked out of National Museum cos Row didn’t like the intro video
12) Visited Crossroads Christian church in Canberra
13) KFC for lunch!
14) Brother and sister-in-law had a baby boy
15) Row left her handbag at hospital
16) Dinner in Bondi
17) Got to hold baby when picking up Row’s handbag

Cool – I was in Canberra as well at the end of last week.

And what happened to that over used cliche? “Don’t judge a book by its cover”… You should have stuck it out at the National Museum, its mostly worth it.

I’m no central coasty, but that looks decidedly like the chocolate cafe near the car park at Erina. What’s it called? Max Brennar? Where they serve the sukao’s. If I’m right do I get a prize?

You really lucked out not continuing with the National Museum. One of the more interesting museums on offer. Plenty of activities and an interesting space. What table number did you sit at in Bondi?

dan – i’m not ashamed of tennis… it was unlucky… we nailed that 2nd set… if we had have played 3rd set we would have one… but tie-breakers are heart-breakers just like penalty shoot-outs – is it true you wet yourself during our penalty shoot-out????
daniel – i didn’t see you in canberra… did you see me???
joel – i think i will make it to 17… there’s enough people who claim to read this thing… let’s wait and see…
craigs – as long as it’s not obvious… he can’t have rodeoclown2, rodeoclown3, rodeoclown 4 etc… it would have to be something like: codeorlown, clownrodeo, rodeoalphaclown, nwolcoedor etc…

national museum…
the reason row didn’t like it was the silence during the video.
there was no mention of Australia’s Christian heritage… but there were shots of every other major religion… and even mention of germaine greer!! what’s with that!!!!!!
there was some pluralistic relativising punk kid who says that you can believe in whatever you want and you’ll be okay…
i think it was pretty poor. visually it was great… but i agree with row on the silence thing.
so yeah… i’ve been there before… on the yr 6 vomit trip of 2003 (when I was teaching).
i think the war memorial is the non-negotiable one when visiting canberra.

i watched it… was planning on going.,.. but ticketek told me it was sold out… disappointed to see that the crowd was only 36,000 – 6000 under capacity!! i should have gone and tried to get in after kick-off!

Re The Twilight of Atheism. I heard Alister McGrath’s talk on this a few weeks ago at the Smith Lecture. Was very excellent indeed.

I too read your blog…but everyone else has beaten me to saying that, so it doesn’t count!
I put a counter on my page – but am thinking of removing it because it stresses me out – interesting to see which days of the week are popular though.

yeah i’m enjoying the stat counter… there’s so much info in there!
almost no-one reads min on the weekend… it sort of peaks in the middle of the week and then drops off.

Yeah, I have quite a few readers Sunday nights, but I have most on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
You should check how much your readership stats jump when Craig links a post to his page!
I was going to quit last week partly because of the stat counter though – not because people don’t read my page – because I have quite a high number (I assume – noone really to compare to, maybe it’s not a high number!)…but because I started to write to see if the stats went higher and lower – and it messed with my mind!
Hence, thinking of taking it off, or not looking at it – also starting questioning why and whom I write for…that’s sorted out in my head now though!
