Walking past a trendy urban store in Chatswood today, I noticed something of a graffiti revolution in the form of CUPROCKING. Heard of it? Here’s a definition: “Cuprocking is the brain child of Sydney based artist Andy Uprock. By mapping out large areas of cyclone fencing and sticking plastic cups into the existing diamond shaped holes, Andy transforms streets and public areas into floating walk-by galleries. Andy typically uses around 2,500 individual cups for each piece and recycles them between each project.”
I was immediately grabbed by the colour and simplicity of the sample in the shop. I like it. This form of art could easily be used in creating a (relatively) cheap set/stage design or adding some colour to a youth room at your church. Check out Andy’s gallery and have a go at (virtual) cup rocking.

i’ve seen stuff around, i just thought it was some bored people disposing of their cups every day when they go outside their office for smoko. i didn’t realise it was planned art – just thought it was organic. makes it a little less cool…
