Moore College Societas 2009

Societas is the annual student magazine put out by Moore College. The 2009 edition has just come out and again it looks hot! Really good design. Really good content.

Greek Bootcamp 09

I’ve got 42 days until my final New Testament Greek exam. It’s open book. That means the expectations are higher. Kinda packing darkies, but prepared to bust my gut in prep.

greek bootcamp 09

So the 42 day bootcamp began today. I’ve got my 96 page exercise book ready to roll. I’m wearing an army print t-shirt to mark the day. Lots of pain ahead… bring it!

Here’s my tally sheet that’s pasted in the front: PDF; Excel.

Free Video Teaching for Churches

“High-quality video teaching for churches everywhere… for free!” That’s the claim from videoteaching.com – a website recently launched by LifeChurch.tv. I hope that it will be a useful resource for preaching Jesus. Check out the about page. What do you think?

www.videoteaching.com

They have 14 preachers providing sermons from their church to share on the site: 4 of them I know and like; a whole bunch I don’t know well enough to comment; and then there’s some who are a bit sketchy. Here’s the full list:

  • Mark Batterson
  • Francis Chan
  • Wayne Cordeiro
  • Mark Driscoll
  • Jentzen Franklin
  • Steven Furtick
  • Scotty Gibbons
  • Craig Groeschel
  • Brian Houston
  • Clayton King
  • John Lindell
  • Perry Noble
  • Dino Rizzo
  • Paul Scanlon

Break it Down #12

Hey blog dogs. Slow on the posting front lately. I’ve been: hanging with my family; tweeting like a ninja; making websites (stay tuned for a major pimping out of my design portfolio with projects from this year…); rockin’ out at weddings; and chillin’ with lots of homies. Coming up: 4 sermons this week (1 tonight, 2 next saturday, 1 next sunday); essay on Nicodemus; Philosophy exam (missed it with birth of Sam); launch of some online ventures; and some stuff and things.

The video above will rock your world. Bananas are my favourite food. This video changes everything. Seriously. Shout out to clever little monkeys and Britney. (h/t human3rror)

Seth Godin on the tribes we lead

Seth Godin is one of my favourite bloggers. He’s an entrepreneur and internet marketing ninja. I regularly read and link to him. Here’s his talk from TED earlier this year:

“Seth Godin argues the Internet has ended mass marketing and revived a human social unit from the distant past: tribes. Founded on shared ideas and values, tribes give ordinary people the power to lead and make big change. He urges us to do so.”

This gear is really valuable in thinking through church, gathering people, church planting, movements and the like. Download his book “Tribes” in audiobook format for free.

Goodbye June 09 | Hello July 09

The life-changing ‘Goodbye Hello‘ continues again this month… July is normally crazy camp season, but I’ve said no to crazy camps to spend time at home and have a crazy camp with Row and Sam. VERY good times. They are both doing well. I’ve also been doing some design work. Here’s the smashing magazine desktop calendar I’ve chosen for July:
