A good thing to know for Windows users is that MS is providing cheap upgrades from Vista to Windows 7 so look for them when 7 comes out later this year as opposed to buying a full educational version.

  2. Matt Jacobs says:

it has to be a uni or TAFE email address – not a school email address (which I have).

shame, I thought I could upgrade on the cheap :(

Also worth looking into is the MSDNAA.

If your school/uni has signed up to it you can get software free or cheep. Hornsby TAFE has. Worth looking into.
