Dear Aussie Muslims

A bunch of Aussie Christians have responded to the Aussie Muslims’ billboard about Jesus with their own billboard. I think it’s an intelligent, thoughtful and respectful response to the MyPeace campaign. Religious dialogue can be courteous! www.aussiechristians.com.au

See below for a video that shows some of the key differences with a Muslim understanding of Jesus. John Dickson from CPX interviews Diaa Mohamed (the founder of the MyPeace campaign). Worth a watch:

  1. omg, I was so creeped out when I saw this, but even more creeped out to find out that it was in RESPONSE to a previous islamic poke at Jesus. wtf, why don’t we all just become athiests its so much more logical.

why dont BOTH of you take the money your dumb campaigns cost and just feed some homeless poeple or build a shelter jeez

  2. Hi Dave, Thanks for the post and the support. Cheers Luke
PS. Had not seen the atheist posters, afraid they didn’t convince me!

  3. I guess the bit that creeped me out was the fact that you actually sighted Muslims. See I didn’t know that u were talking about the actual organization AUSSIE MUSLIMS I thought u just meant all Muslims in Australia in general, and I thought ‘whoah that’s confronting, hitting up Muslims about Jesus!’

After a google around I now ‘get it’ but I doubt the thousands of m4 people do.

AND I do think the money spent on that billboard could have better served the Christian cause helping struggling families or refurbing chrisian centers etc

    1. i think it is all Muslims in Australia in general, it just came in response to the MyPeace campaign. I think it’s a healthy conversation to have.

I don’t think it matters if the thousands on the M4 get it. A few people will look up the website, and I’m sure some Muslims and Christians will look up the website and have fruitful discussion in response.

I’m not sure on costs of the billboard etc… but I’m confident that much more money is spent each year by Christians and Christian organisations in serving the community in ways you’ve suggested. thanks for encouraging us to be generous.

    2. ps – teejay.

what are your thoughts on Jesus?

do you think Christians have him right?
do you think Muslims have him right?
or do you think something else?

thanks again for joining the conversation.

      1. Hi David.

Great thread, it’s good to see so much discussion on it. I love the new poster even better it’s awesome.

My thoughts on Jesus are, I believe he was just a normal man, but that humans dying to give their life greater purpose exaggerated his antics to create the bible which I believe to be no different than Harry potter or Jurassic park but just based more on real life people.

I do love Christians though and even though I’m an athiest I’d be happy to have the world full of you guys as long as you were all moderate.

I don’t believe for a second Jesus could be a prophet of Islam, whoever he was.

        1. Hey Teejay – thanks for continuing in the conversation!

is there a new billboard on the M4?
          is this the one? http://aussiechristians.com.au/2011/06/22/before-abraham-was-born-i-am/
if so – why do you think that one better?

great to hear you’ve got some thoughts on Jesus.
have you looked into the historicity of Jesus and the gospels much before?
i reckon when you check out the nature of the new testament documents that it’s pretty convincing that Jesus is more than just a normal man.

          you said:
I don’t believe for a second Jesus could be a prophet of Islam, whoever he was.
Islam wasn’t a purpose, but it is a word that basically means “submission to God”

          thanks again for the chat!

  4. I think it’s a fantastic thing! They can say an do as they please, so why not be allowed to confront our beliefs! Power to you buddy! I think it’s courageous and truly Christian of you!
    Cheers !!

      1. Very proud Christian. I don’t have any problems with Muslims until they want more than what they can handle. I think they take a lot for granted especially in this country.
Jesus is my saviour and I pray one day everyone will realize how important he actually is. I feel sorry for those who don’t have or even know God. It’s a shame how this world is becoming!

        1. hey pampam – stoked you’re a follower of Jesus.
praying for you now that you’d keep trusting Jesus, and that God would give you opportunities to share the amazing message of Jesus with the world that needs to hear it!
          peace
