Okay. If you read edition one of this post, Row said no! We had a great time in Nowra last night. A bunch of peeps became Christian and a bunch more prayed that they would take following Jesus more seriously. Praise God!

Rowena and I celebrated 5 years of marriage yesterday with a lovely dinner at Ripples, Chowder Bay. I’m not sure if it’s because we’ve been married for 5 years, or because we’re now closer to 30 than 25, but we have started to enjoy listening to VEGA 95.3. If you’re not familiar with VEGA, they define themselves as a station for 40s and 50s!!

Marriage is about Jesus. I pray ours would reflect this reality.

I’m a bit of an early adopter. A few years ago I discovered twitter. It now seems that the rest of the world is catching on! Twits update their twitter account from their mobile or computer with what they are doing at any particular time. I subscribe to the ESV daily twitter and get bible verses on my phone every day. That’s pretty cool. But does the world and/or you really need to know what I’m doing? Do you twitter? Should I twitter?

Hallo.

Sam and Soph are celebrating the 2 year birthday of their blog. Except for these six posts in 2004 and 2005, this blog started properly in early May 2006, with this post. When I let the cat out of the bag, my aim was to be: concise, colourful, original and insightful. I think to varying degrees, I’ve kept the aim the same for the last two years.

In February this year, I changed the address to davemiers.com and made the blog into a 3-pronged business. Designing is the most cumbersome part of dmdc. It takes longer to produce work for someone else than it does for yourself, but I’m enjoying the websites and other design work I’m currently working on. Writing is probably the most stressful part of dmdc. Deadlines are hard to keep, but I think I’ve been able to produce some good material. Speaking is the part of dmdc that brings the most joy. It’s such a privilege to be able to proclaim Jesus to teenagers around New South Wales, encourage their youth leaders and see different styles of youth ministry. Although, it’s a bit weird getting paid to do it!
Thanks for reading, supporting and friending dmdc and its owner… warm fuzzies all ’round! (Bonus warm fuzzy for each commenter)

Hey, Hey it’s Saturday! Do you like the new name of this Saturday post? It pretty much describes the 4 main areas that I use to categorise regular posts and links. The other finalist was Hey, Hey it’s Saturday! Row liked it, but I think it’s a bit lame…

The post title says it all! Here are 4 snapshots from the last couple of days. On Friday night I spoke at the Blue Mountains Youthsurge – the sketch of me was drawn by a kid during my interview. The talk was okay – but I’ll be making some significant changes for when I do it again in a couple of weeks.

Good sleep in on Saturday. Won soccer 8-0 (scored 1 set up 3 or 4). Took some photos in the city. Had dinner with Row and Ruth after equip. Went with Row, Robyn (Row’s mum), Rach (Row’s sister) and Nath (Rach’s husband) in the Mothers Day Classic at the Domain this morning. Relaxed arvo. Scott Petty gave a great talk this evening at Senior High. It was the 2nd in a 3 part series on Jesus: Prophet, Priest and King. Now finishing the easiest essay of my life! Peaceout.

Okay. Last week was the second last “web watch wrap”. This is the final “web watch wrap”. Stay tuned for a new name and pic next Saturday (the competition is still open). I hung out with some “mountain goats” last night. Good times.

As a teenager I read a soccer magazine that had the same tagline at the end of each editorial: Soccer is life, the rest is just details. I used to believe that, but now I believe that Jesus is life and the rest is just details!

Soccer may no longer be number 1 – but there are some killer soccer vids on youtube!! Check out the vid below – some of the moves may even be real!!

I spoke on 2 camps this past week. On Youthworks Soccer Camp I got to talk about Jesus and play and coach soccer all day… so good!!! I did a modified version of some lost and found talks (plus some bible studies). The 2nd camp was CCECYOUTH Phat. It was a Viking theme called PHAT LEGENDS – good times. I spoke on ‘Truths Worth Dying For’: Bible Alone, Grace Alone, Faith Alone, Christ Alone and To the Glory of God Alone (see Row’s accompanying Protestant Bio’s).

I went to a wedding today in the Botanical Gardens. It was nice. But Jesus was missing. While it’s thoroughly appropriate for people to be married who aren’t followers of Jesus, marriage doesn’t make much sense without Him. From the very beginning, marriage has been all about Jesus. Bring on THE Marriage!

This week we’ve been hanging out in Kingsford on College mission. It’s been a long and tiring week (not quite over yet)… but a good week. I’ve enjoyed hanging out with the team and proclaiming Jesus together.

Do you know Jesus? Find out more here, here, here, here and here.

Don Carson smashed it at College this week each morning in a series of lectures on “Christ and Culture Revisited”. They were very good… keep an eye out on the book. Not familiar with D.A. Carson? Check out some online talks.

Next week: the dave miers dot com/eternal weight of glory week of reruns. I will be away from the computer for much of the week – so get ready for some classic posts. If you can remember or find any of my posts in the archive worth getting a rerun – leave a comment.

We went to Saturday EV tonight. Very refreshing. Best sermon I’ve heard for two months! Keep an eye out on their brilliant webpage for the podcast on Sunday or Monday. In other Easter Saturday news, John Piper has a very good post attempting to answer the question: Did Jesus spend Saturday in hell? It’s worth reading.

There are two new buttons in the left sidebar of dave miers dot com:
- Links to a bunch of Greek resources from around the web
- Links to a page I’ve made that has the latest 10 posts from 1st year Moore College bloggers + a list of all their sites. If you know of any others – let me know and I’ll add them to the list.

Are you struggling with learning Greek? Michael Jensen wrote a post that might help you to justify quitting!
