This is my family: Sam is laughing at something; Tom is doing what he does best; and Row and I are pretending to not be tired! We’re all well and thankful for quality time together.

After a week off blogging, regular blog posts will resume tomorrow. Peaceout.
One of my highlights of Vanuatu 2010 was a rather boisterous sing-a-long to and from our kayaking adventure. The kayaking was slightly sketchy: bad kayaks; risky conditions; overpriced; and lame sharks to feed. That didn’t matter. The trip was worth it. String Bands are a popular form of music in Vanuatu. We enjoyed listening to the Esalaik String Band on the bus. In one of the songs we recognised some of the lyrics and began to sing along. The bus driver liked this. So he kept repeating the track.
After both legs of the journey, we probably sang the song over 50 times!! The song was called Yesu Azali Awa – which I think means ‘Jesus is my Lord’. The chorus basically repeats the line ‘Hallelujah Jesus’ over and over again. And so we repeated it over and over again! So much fun.
Here are some vids from the experience that made it onto facebook: vid 1 and vid 2.
And above is a vid of my son dancing to the same song. :)
Sam will often stand at the window watching me as I mow the lawn. It’s amazing to then see him imitating me as he pretends to mow the lawn! I appreciate knowing that my son is watching me, and I pray that I’d be a father worth imitating. Here are 3 pics of him “mowing” the lawn this past weekend. Pretty cute threads too!

Samuel has just turned 1. Crazy, I remember when he was just this big! Lots of friends and family came over on a gorgeous Winter’s afternoon to celebrate Sam’s birthday and to also witness his baptism. Row made a delicious World Cup Mascot cake to put the icing on a lovely day. The only negative was that we forgot to give out the party bags. If you were there with kids, please come and collect a bag before we eat them all! Here are 3 photos from the morning of Sam’s special day. On the outside looking inside.

…and when he is old he will not turn from it. (Proverbs 22:6) Sam likes books. I like reading books with him. There are some pretty meaty books on the 2 shelves he’s perusing in the pic below. However, the heaviest book in that shot is hard to see. It’s near his right hand, Where Did I Come From. Now that will be an adventure!!

Parenting is exciting and daunting. My prayer is that I would be training him now in the way he should go and that when he’s old he will not turn from it.
It’s been a couple of months since I gave Sam some love on the blog. Sam, one day you will google your name and find this picture. I’m sorry… it was your mum’s idea!!

Merry Christmas from Team Miers. We hope you have a great day rejoicing in Jesus our Saviour-God. Here’s some gear to look forward to after Christmas on DMDC:
Would love your help in raising cash to provide a whole community with clean drinking water.
Relatives and the posse of old ladies on facebook like pics of Sam. Enjoy the latest:

Little Samuel just turned 1… week old. We love this kid to bits and have managed to take 435 photos of him in that time. Lucky for you, we’re not going to make you sit through all of them! So here’s a selection of 36 that we like and hope you like too.

See below for gallery. They’re in reverse order (ie click on last one & work backwards).
