How good is the good news for youth?

Below is an interview that Eternity Newspaper did with me last week. Read it here.

Here’s a snippet of the article by Kaley Payne:

Dave Miers likes being in the thick of it. It’s why he chose youth ministry as his life work.

“Youth ministry is where the action is,” says the 31 year old (though he jokes he’s 23). “So many people become Christians before they turn 20. Most haven’t yet gone down irreversible paths in their lives; they’re just coming out from underneath their parents. It’s an age where people can consider life and the big questions of eternity.”

JESUS’ EPIC STORY // MARK’S GOSPEL READING GUIDE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

Bible Society Australia have a killer campaign this October to help lift the rates of Bible reading among Aussie Christians. I’ve had the privilege of working with Bible Society in producing a website and set of 16 videos as a reading guide through Mark’s Gospel. JESUS’ EPIC STORY is useful for mature Christians, new Christians and those investigating Christianity. While it is targeted at a younger audience, I think it’s suitable for all ages.

Above and below is a promo postcard that Bible Society produced for follow-up after RICE RALLY. Each of the 16 videos give a brief overview of each chapter of Mark’s Gospel. There is also a full-text PDF that could be used as a reading companion.

LIVE LIGHT IN 25 WORDS

According to some recent research, only 2 in 10 Australian Christians spend regular time reading the Bible. This isn’t 2 in 10 Australians, but Australian Christians. Bible Society Australia want to change that. They have a campaign LIVE LIGHT IN 25 WORDS. “We’re asking you, your friends & family and churches & schools to commit to reading the Bible daily, starting with 25 words for thirty-one days”. Here’s the promo vid:

During the month of October they are encouraging churches, families and individual Christians to commit to reading the Bible everyday. I think it’s a fantastic campaign! Check out the 25 Words website for more details.

I’ve got some Bible reading videos to help youth read the Mark’s Gospel that are part of the program. I’m praying that they will be really useful for young people to get stuck into God’s Word. I’ll let you know more tomorrow…

Hundreds Find Lasting Satisfaction in Jesus

This past weekend I had the privilege of proclaiming Jesus to over 3000 young crew at the Sydney Entertainment Centre at RICE Rally (see all my blog posts related to RICE). God was very kind in the way that he worked in the lives of hundreds of them. God is continuing to use the RICE Movement in an amazing way to call people to himself through trusting in Jesus’ death and resurrection.

Below is an article by Karen Mudge from Eternity Newspaper:
