02.03about
I’m Dave Miers. And this is my story. Although I was born in Sydney, I have been a Central Coast local since I was 3 months old.
I grew up in a Christian family and have always known about Jesus and his death and resurrection. However during my teenage years I spent most of my waking hours (+ countless dreams!) pursuing the idol of soccer. It wasn’t until I started to come to Central Coast Evangelical Church (CCEC) in mid-1998 that I “turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead - Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.” (1Thess 1:9-10 NIV) What impressed me about CCEC was the clarity of Bible teaching week after week and the clear explanation of how the death and resurrection of Jesus ought to impact on all areas of life.
After finishing school I managed a sports shop and I was treated daily to the exotic odours from fitting sports shoes on smelly feet. After a year of work I completed a BArts/BTeaching at Ourimbah University and worked for a short time as a casual teacher.
My first taste of ministry was Summerfest99. Not quite knowing what to expect, during the week of mission I caught the vision of proclaiming the gospel of Jesus on the Central Coast and beyond. Since then, it’s been a privilege to be a part of the gospel-work at CCEC. In 04/05 I was an MTS apprentice. And in 06/07 I was employed as the Assistant Youth Pastor at CCEC.
In 2008 I’m beginning a 3 year degree at Bible college. During my first year of college I won’t be working for a church, so dave miers dot com and some maths and english tutoring will be my source of income.
I’m married to Row. She’s hot. And I enjoy partnering with her in life and ministry.
In 2008 we’ll be hanging out with the senior high youth + night church at Christ Church St Ives.
