Today I started at Bible college. Today was mainly an orientation day. Still good. Caught up with some cool people. John Woodhouse (the boss of the show) gave a sweet talk to kick off our time at college. He spoke from Philippians 2:5-11 on the gospel. What’s the gospel? Go read the passage.
I got asked by a guy at church a couple of weeks ago why I was going to college. I said to him that I wasn’t really going to learn about ministry (I’m sure I’ll learn stuff about ministry), but that I wanted to know Jesus better so that I can more effectively encourage people to trust Him.
In the talk this morning, after some sweet insights into Philippians 2:5-11, JW finished with the following 3 implications:
- Do you believe this gospel? Do you really believe that God is like this?
- We who believe this revolutionary gospel are to reflect it in our mindset.
- The centre of this gospel statement is the cross.
I’m thinking of getting a razor scooter (remember they were all the rage back in the late 90’s and sweetly modelled by Hansel!) to get to and from stations in a zippy fashion. What do you think?
I vote yes to speedy transport.
Yay for encouraging starts to new beginnings!
Looking good! Have you got a photo of your actual first day at school to put alongside this one?
Dude! I’ve got almost the same first-day-of-school photograph, except I was way overdressed.
Looking sharp.
I have a razor scooter – I got it for zipping to and from the station for uni.
Also – can you make your feed full-text… PLEEEEEASE?
Thanks.
Also – that is some awesome cheese in that photo!
Sweet new site Dave. Glad you’re having a good time!
I just thought – I’m not actually using my scooter at the moment (or for the last year or so).
Do you want to borrow it?
And by borrow, I mean, when you finish college you can give it back?
It’s orange, and says ‘Draz’, because of how I’ve worn through the branding.
It’s pretty sweet.
Anyway – email me if you want it.
Go the razor! I had one a few years back for getting to the bus. I ordered one from a shop in Melbourne that had slightly larger wheels which meant that bumps/sticks/leaves didn’t make the scooter stop in its tracks.
Great to have you at ‘school’ with us!
steve – i’m sure my parents have one – but i don’t think i’ve got one… will check later!
rodeo – thanks for the offer… i’ll email you if i want to take it up… i might check out the kind that daniel is talking about first… and then decide… but thanks heaps.
i’ll change the rss thing for you later… if i haven’t by the next post with read more – remind me again!!
ben -i remember when you posted that!!

I really excited for you and for CCSI. Will you be being used in the Youth Ministry? Or something else?
