I’m in the middle of a three week New Testament Greek intensive. I’m no Greek-geek – so here are some tools to help geek it up.
Online New Testament Greek tools:
- Lionel Windsor Greek tools – Lionel is a Moore Bible Skool grad – so this is some good gear
- Teknia -Bill Mounce gear
- ReGreek – from the resurgence crew (posted before)
- Bibleworks – some good software (costs $)
- Accordance – like bibleworks, but for mac (h/t duke)
- e-sword – free bible software – only basic greek – but still good!
- Greek and Hebrew on iTunes U
- MorphGNT – not sure what this is – but it looks interesting!
- Mooreish.org – only mtc students can get on here – but looks like there’s some resources in there
- Logos – looks like you need cash (h/t Phil)
- Visual Greek – good memory hooks for visual learners with vocab – full booklet (pdf)
- ProVoc – vocab system for MAC… looks good (h/t toby)
- VocabWorks – vocab system for PC… not as sexy as ProVoc but still good. Mooreish as MTC vocab sets for download (h/t mike b)
- Greek Flash Cards for mobile phones – this is brilliant. Used it on the train this morning – good for use when you don’t have a seat! (h/t reuben)
- Greek Flash Cards Widget V0.2 (beta) – this is a yahoo widget – some very cool stuff on your desktop (h/t reuben)
- Greek & Hebrew Reader’s Bible – an electronic copy of the greek/hebrew bibles with vocab help at bottom of page (h/t shane rogerson)
Got any other online stuff I can post here?
if you use a mac, as a replacement for bibleworks, there is accordance.
Hope you are having fun with greek, I am.
Hey man love the greek refs
Come and sit on the other side of the lecture theatre. That’s where all the nerds are :)
thanks dukenator – i put a link to accordance.
yo sam… there aren’t ever seats there when i get in… my train gets in at 836 – and so i normally walk in to the place @ 850ish – once class has started…
you’ll have to save me a seat!
Three weeks! We only had one…
Which textbook are you guys using Dave?
Also – I notice your link for bibleworks says ‘costs $’. If you go to this part of their website you can download the greek (and hebrew) font package for free. I’ve found it to be great.
hey cj – i’m glad it’s 3 and not 1!!
we don’t use a text book. we get a visit from paul the apostle to tell us about the language…
well not really.
people are encouraged to check out some mounce b4 college… but the text we use for 1st year is in house.
we’ve currently got a 50 page reader… and i think for the rest of the year we have a 90 page reader.
it’s pretty well structured.
what text book are you guys using??
with the bibleworks – there’s some 400-500 buck program that is deluxe – i’ve downloaded some of the fonts… but if you pay cash you can get the whole enchalata.
peaceout
Yeah three weeks would be good (although pretty intense). It was definitely good to get cracking on the Greek before we started into the rest of our classes (which we just finished our first week of).
We’re using a book by D A Black as the text for Greek. It’s pretty good. The reason I asked was that if you were using Black as well, one of the guys here wrote a flash card type program to help with the vocab…
Don’t forget about Logos. They’ve got some great resources for learning Greek. Check out http://www.logos.com/greek/nt for a list.
thanks phil.
just added logos + visual greek.
Dave
You’ve also forgotten about provoc for mac users.
