Wolverine vs Osama bin Laden

While watching Wolverine on Monday I pressed paused to stream US President Obama’s live announcement about the killing of Osama bin Laden. Since then, I’ve written about 10 different blog posts in my head. I guess this is one of them. Every man and his dog (at least dogs savvy enough to have a twitter account) has already shared their opinion on the killing.

I have nothing new to say. So check out the following:

  • Love Your Enemies – The Resurgenceif you’ve only got a few moments, read this one. It’s brief and to the point. Deals with the question of whether it is right to rejoice in bin Laden’s death. Check it.
  • Love in Hard Places – DA CarsonI was re-reading Carson’s 2002 book on Tuesday morning and noticed that The Gospel Coalition had released the whole book as a free PDF. Get it. It’s good. Carson deals at length very complex questions. The book was published shortly after September 11, 2001 – so it has an extended treatment of what it means to love bin Laden. Download the pdf and skip to page 108 for that section.
  • Killing an Arab – Mark SayersMark has been punching out some good blog posts lately. I like the way he deals with justice and love in this post. He finishes at the cross where we see God’s justice and love come together in the death of Jesus. Go there.

ps – I think Wolverine would win…

Michael Collings – Tracksuit Wearing Legend!

Humans are so superficial. If someone doesn’t fit a certain celebrity stereotype, we write them off. Paul Potts and Susan Boyle were a bit awkward and/or uncool, so we were shocked by their amazing performances on Britain’s Got Talent. Michael Collings is the latest ordinary person to rebuke our superficiality! Click here to check out his recent performance.

Cool story. Ordinary fella. (Even though he’s playing a cheap Ashton!) he’s got some mean skills on the guitar and an amazing voice. Boom!
