So many great people to meet on this visit to @villagechurchtx! One person I’ve really enjoyed hanging out with is Rob (pictured). As the Connections Minister, he does a great job leading the teams in helping people connect into the life of the church.
On Saturday I enjoyed doing gardening with him at his community garden plot. Afterwards he showed me around South Dallas. The people living in that area are some of the most marginalised in all of Dallas. I was inspired by his desire to one day move back into the area and be part of a gospel work.
Lots to learn from this brother as he lets the gospel shape his life, family and ministry.
For lunch we enjoyed ridiculously good Texan BBQ :)

I have been eating very well each evening in the homes of brothers and sisters from @villagechurchtx. Food has been amazing, but all the richer in the context of sweet fellowship.
Massive encouragement from Brian, Dawn, Jeff and Marianne last night. Loved hearing their stories, their involvement with The Village and valued sharing our story and dreams for planting a church. Finished the evening with a powerful time of prayer for one another.
How good is to share the same Father, Saviour and Spirit with strangers/family on the opposite side of the world?!!

Flower Mound in Texas doesn’t really do coffee. In fact when I searched in @beanhunter for cafes near me it said the closest ones were in Ireland and England! But I did manage to find @triocraftcoffee, and currently enjoying a delicious cold brew.
Another good day of encouraging meet ups with people from @villagechurchtx. The staff team is relatively young, but I’ve enjoyed connecting with older volunteer deacons and older volunteer elders who bring great depth, wisdom and maturity to the team.

I’m spending the next week learning from the team at The Village Church in Dallas.
I’ve had a great first full day onsite! After today’s meetings I’m encouraged that such a big church cares deeply and deliberately for individuals. Members and non-members are known and loved by the team, with great processes in place to make sure people don’t fall through the cracks.

Our family have been thinking and praying for over 10 years about the opportunities for reaching people with the good news of Jesus through church planting. God used the vision & supporters night of another church plant as one of the final things to compel us to step out in faith.
After listening to our good friends, Matt & Tash Sparks, share the vision for Anchor Church Sydney, we were inspired! Not to join their team, as good as that would have been, but to do likewise and one day to lead a team in reaching new people and new generations through a new church in a new city.
That day is fast approaching!
We have recently hosted ‘City Vision Brisbane’ events in Melbourne (see photos) and Brisbane (see photos). I’m so thankful for the support that we’ve already received. People are keen to pray, keen to give and keen to join! Praise the Lord!!
This Thursday night, 24 September, we will be hosting the final ‘City Vision Brisbane’ event in Sydney’s CBD at Barneys Broadway. It’s from 7pm and we will be serving light food and drinks. We trust that God will continue to raise up more people to partner with us through praying, giving and joining.
Perhaps God may even use this night to inspire someone else to be part of His mission in the world through church planting!
