Listen to Jesus the Glorious Son // Sermon

In Matthew 17, just after Jesus’ identity and mission has been made clear in chapter 16, Jesus takes Peter, James and John up a mountain. While up there, and in the presence of Moses and Elijah (hectic!), Jesus was transfigured before them. I preached on this mountain-top experience across the weekend at St Faith’s. JESUS’ EPIC STORY // MARK’S GOSPEL READING GUIDE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

Bible Society Australia have a killer campaign this October to help lift the rates of Bible reading among Aussie Christians. I’ve had the privilege of working with Bible Society in producing a website and set of 16 videos as a reading guide through Mark’s Gospel. JESUS’ EPIC STORY is useful for mature Christians, new Christians and those investigating Christianity. While it is targeted at a younger audience, I think it’s suitable for all ages.

Above and below is a promo postcard that Bible Society produced for follow-up after RICE RALLY. Each of the 16 videos give a brief overview of each chapter of Mark’s Gospel. There is also a full-text PDF that could be used as a reading companion.

LIVE LIGHT IN 25 WORDS

According to some recent research, only 2 in 10 Australian Christians spend regular time reading the Bible. This isn’t 2 in 10 Australians, but Australian Christians. Bible Society Australia want to change that. They have a campaign LIVE LIGHT IN 25 WORDS. “We’re asking you, your friends & family and churches & schools to commit to reading the Bible daily, starting with 25 words for thirty-one days”. Here’s the promo vid:

During the month of October they are encouraging churches, families and individual Christians to commit to reading the Bible everyday. I think it’s a fantastic campaign! Check out the 25 Words website for more details.

I’ve got some Bible reading videos to help youth read the Mark’s Gospel that are part of the program. I’m praying that they will be really useful for young people to get stuck into God’s Word. I’ll let you know more tomorrow…

Entrepreneurial: Character or Conviction?

This past week I’ve been at a 3-day training event for newish Anglican ministers in Sydney. It was a killer time of mutual encouragement with friends. And there was some fantastic content from Christopher Ash, Richard Coekin and Phillip Jensen. Coekin and Ash did most of the preaching and I was challenged by both of them to keep letting the text of the Bible shape my preaching. Here is a great snippet from Coekin’s sermon on 2 Samuel 23:

Keep an eye out for the rest of the sermon! I’m looking forward to hearing Coekin and Paul Dale open the Bible this weekend at ENGAGE.
