City Alight is the new album from St Paul’s Castle Hill. It has a fresh mix of great rock and pop songs for congregational singing or passionate solos while driving in heavy traffic. I recently spent time with some of the band; they seem to be creating a great culture of grass roots song writing in their church. What a great encouragement to their church and the church more broadly! My favourite tracks are the first and last Not Alone and Forever and Always. Check their website to hear samples of each track.

Yes. Forever and Always is such a catchy and enjoyable song. My personal favourite. Thankyou for the song. It is a nice addition to my slowly expanding collection of Christian praise/worship music.
Anyway, for the album:
An album such as ‘City Alight’ would have multiple benefits in youth ministry. Firstly leading in a smaller and relatively new youth group means that we dont have the same access to music resources which other larger and more established youth groups do such as a band and so as such we are more reliant on resources such as music from other churches/youth groups.
Secondly, a reason why ‘City Alight’ would work well in such a youth group is music is a very useful and important supplement to the core of what our youth group and most others aim to do, which is to spread the message and glory of the Gospel and as such Christian worship/praise music is such a useful and important supplement to weekly teaching at youth group.
Thirdly, the church itself in which our youth group is based tends to lean towards more traditional style hymn singing which although is quite good, in a youth setting doesnt connect with youth to the same extent as more modern and popular styles of music can and do.
Finally, ‘City Alight’ contains really brilliant music.
