Gospel Evidences and Image Software

I made a header for CraigS‘ new site: Gospel Evidences. This type of thing doesn’t take me long. Here are my tools:

  • If I don’t use my own pics I get them from yotophoto. I have it set so it only finds images that are legal to use (it’s the yotophoto non-CC plugin for firefox or internet explorer)
  • I use Irfanview to resize images, basic colour changes + batch conversions and batch renaming. It’s very quick and easy to use
  • I use gimp for more complex stuff. I think it’s a bit like a photoshop – only free (and therefore not quite as capable)

I use all of these regularly in different ministries. Good tools. Easy to use. Free. Effective.

Do you do any of this type of stuff? What do you use?

  3. Woah, thanks mate. Here’s the edit.

    The GIMP is just as capable as Photoshop, with one missing feature: CMYK colour spaces for print production. Other than that, it can do all the same things, just not quite as intuitively.

    If you want something a little easier to use (arguably), try GIMPShop , which is a front end for The GIMP (actually it’s a standalone app) with all the tools and menus set up to look and feel like PS. And the price is right. Avail. on all platforms.

    For Mac users: if you’d like something to quickly resize, chop and even upload photos to a server, try ImageWell . It has all the drag-and-drop functionality you’re used to on the Mac and also costs nothing.

    Man, how good is freeware?

  4. On donating, rarely. I think I’ve donated to a developer once or twice. Perhaps I should think about it more.

  5. I rarely do anything like this, but when I do I use Photoshop elements.

    Hey dave, one of my friends saw a cyREVOLUTION flyer and knew it was from our youth just by looking at it. How weird is that? Do you think it is good or bad? I think good (as long as its well designed as well as recognisable – which i think it is)

    consistency with branding is good i think.

    one of the reasons this year may have been i didn’t have time to make a new flyer – so used the ones from last year… and just changed the details.
