A good thing to know for Windows users is that MS is providing cheap upgrades from Vista to Windows 7 so look for them when 7 comes out later this year as opposed to buying a full educational version.
it has to be a uni or TAFE email address – not a school email address (which I have).
shame, I thought I could upgrade on the cheap :(
Hey Dave, is the site legit?
Sure is. I bought a copy from that site last year.
@luke – are you saying not get this package?
@matt – bummer! i’m pretty sure there’s discounts for teachers – you might just need to fish around to find it elsewhere???
@julie – totally. run by microsoft.
@nick g – hello.
Moore isn’t on the list either… (I’m not a student though…)
i got it with my moore address.
it worked fine.
Alternatively, you can use Open Office which is almost exactly the same and is completely compatible with microsoft office.

Openoffice for the win!
Also worth looking into is the MSDNAA.

http://www.msdnaa.net/search/SchoolSearchIntl.aspx
If your school/uni has signed up to it you can get software free or cheep. Hornsby TAFE has. Worth looking into.
Windows only. Lame.
@rob – hey man – thanks for stopping by! will have to catch you for a coffee soon!! thanks for the tip on open office
@josh – thanks man.
@ben – i’m sorry – i’ll see what i can do… ;)
