DISCUSSING ‘THE BIBLE’ WEEK 1 #TheBibleAU

Did you watch THE BIBLE last night on channel 9? What did you think? I thought it was great! Here is what John Dickson and Greg Clarke had to say:

As I suggested in this post, I think we have an easy opportunity to engage our community with the bible over the next month.

Who can you chat to today and bring up the bible in the conversation? Here are 3 tweets/status updates I just sent out:

EASTER FROM AROUND THE WORLD // BIBLE READING PLAN FOR MARCH

Bible Society have a great new Easter Bible reading plan for March. The resources they’ve been producing over the last year are good quality, easy to use and biblical. I like the global approach to these short videos with people from around the world reading each day. Sign up for the daily email here. Check out this first video here:

Here is the press release from Bible Society:

Christians send Easter messages from around the world.

For many, Easter is more about bunnies and chocolate than about the great miracle that transforms lives. At the Bible Society, we want everyone to know about Christ’s atoning sacrifice, and how his resurrection can bring newness into their very own life.

That’s why we’ve invited friends from around the world to share the Easter story, in our “Easter from Around the World” campaign. Those who sign up will receive daily video emails from March 1, each bringing a Scripture reading and points to ponder. You’ll here from thirty-one people in twenty-five countries, like China, Brazil, and Albania – and from the very part of the world where an empty tomb first revealed a resurrected Christ!

“Easter changed the whole world, so it’s great to hear this Easter message from Christians around the globe,” says Chris Melville, the Bible Society’s Campaigns and Programmes Manager. “I hope the videos help everyone recognise how much of an impact the Easter story has had on lives everywhere.”

“For instance, the very first video comes from the Amity Printing Press in China, which has just printed its 100 millionth Bible! Could there be a better story than that, of the reality of Christ and the Word of God in countries across the globe.”

Those who’ve already signed up for the Bible Society’s Live light in 25 words campaign will automatically receive these Easter emails. Others are invited to sign up now at biblesociety.org.au/dailybible and to invite others to do so as well.

WILD BIBLE: Animated Bible Stories for Kids

Bible Society Australia are doing some great projects. I loved their 25 Words campaign and think they did an amazing job on Jesus’ Epic Story! WILD BIBLE is a series of animated stories about Jesus for children. My 3.5 year old loves watching them and they are helping him to keep learning more about King Jesus. I have inserted all the videos below – I thought you might be interest – but I also want quick access to them when using them.
The quick access address is davemiers.com/wild/ // Enjoy!

XV: the Bible in 15

Matthias Media – in partnership with Bible Society Australia – have just produced a killer free Bible resource. It’s call XV: the Bible in 15. You can view the contents online for free or download the IOS app for iPhone or iPad for free.

XV gives a bite-sized snippet of 15 key movements throughout the storyline of the Bible. I think it will be a brilliant resource for anyone who wants to know the big picture of the Bible better. The app itself is well-designed and simple to navigate. Get on it.
