Those creative cats from OK Go – the band that unleashed their dancing skills on YouTube in 2006 with that treadmill film clip receiving over 50million views – have done it again. Earlier this year they redefined ‘paint fight’ with This Too Shall Pass; now they have produced another well choreographed dance routine – this time involving some clever canines and some swanky furniture. Here it is:
Directed by Trish Sie and OK Go. Produced by Shirley Moyers.
Ed Springer and his team of leaders are doing a great job with Club Reg, the junior high youth ministry of Northmead Anglican Church. I hung out with them on Friday night and spoke about the internet and social media to both the youth group members and their parents. Lots of parents came. It was a useful night to run and a great way to connect with parents who aren’t part of the church.
They played a funny video on the night about “THE INTERNET”. I couldn’t embed it, so click here to check it out. Enjoy.
Hands up for some creative musical pastichery*? Then check out www.inbflat.net, a collaborative music/spoken word project. Basically there are 20 youtube vids of different peeps playing something in B-flat. I’ll stop trying to explain it, just go and check it out!!
I disagree with both major political parties regarding refugees and asylum seekers. Many Australians probably selfishly agree. Here is a short animation from GetUp Australia attempting to discard with popular myths surrounding asylum seekers.
I heard this song a couple of weeks ago and I’ve been humming it ever since! It’s a beautiful picture of a loving God that has promised there is a day coming when crap will be gone. Those who belong to Jesus can look forward to an eternity without weeping, hurt, pain, suffering, darkness, sickness. Bring it. Check the vid:
Lots of the themes in the song are from a stunning part of the bible:
1Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
5He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
Ragamuffinsoul.com is one of my favourite blogs and Carlos Whittaker is one of my favourite bloggers. Recently he posted a short vid he filmed in the car. Their 3 kids were all singing and dancing to Beyonce’s Single Ladies on the back seat. Carlos told his son that he wasn’t a single lady. He was devastated! Watch it:
The video went viral. It’s now had almost 2 million hits on YouTube! It was interesting to watch the media opportunities that the Whittaker’s had following up the viral video. Kinda bizarre that so many TV stations wanted to run it as a story. But nonetheless, it was encouraging to see Carlos use the airtime to get adoption (his son is adopted) on the agenda. And also, his hits spiked during all the coverage, and there were some really clear gospel posts that many of his new visitors would have read. Sweet.
The closest I’ve had to a viral video is this with almost 10,000 hits. Didn’t quite get the same media attention! Next closest was this with 3,500 hits. It’s obvious why it didn’t get any media attention!!
What’s your favourite viral vid so far this year??
