The HSC Lockdown 2010

Youthworks, Crusaders and Scripture Union all run great study camps for year 12 students preparing for the HSC. They all include solid, disciplined blocks of study throughout the day, with a bit of time to reflect upon God and life after school. SU haven’t been running them for as long. Theirs are unique in that they are spread throughout Sydney and NSW and they are non-residential (which = way cheaper!).

Check out the website to find the nearest HSC Lockdown. If you’re a Christian student, this could be one of your last opportunities to invite your non-Christian friends along to something. And remember there’s more to life than the HSC!

  1. Hey Dave,

I’ve only ever been involved with the Youthworks ones. Do you know if the SU ones manage to build in the same kind of hang out time as well?

    1. Hey steve, I haven’t been on one, but I know the timetable, and because they’re not residential there is much less time to hang. Click the link above, I think the su website has the typical timetable. You got some peeps to send on one? I’m speaking on the st Ives lockdown. It’s run by a great fella

  2. No actually, I’m directing a Youthworks one in a few weeks. Let me know how the SU one goes. I like the sound of the model and I’d be interested to hear if it works.

  3. cool – hope it goes well! have you done that one before? location? rego going well?

the su one isn’t until october. but will let you know.

it seems to be a good formula. they started with one of them just 2 or 3 years ago. and now they’ve got maybe 8?

  4. The last studycamp I was on I was in year 12 :) I sort of Forrest Gumped my way into this role. It’s at Port Hacking (I know cliche right?) and we’re doing well for numbers of students (we’re expecting 100ish) but poorly for numbers of leaders. I need another 7 for me to be content and 12 for me to be comfortable. Currently at 18. If you’ve got any punks who’d benefit from a week’s ministry experience send them my way, at this stage we could work our something very attractive in terms of cost to come. :)
