Prayer Friday #016

Thanks for praying for Row and me this year. Super-appreciated.

>I’m preaching at a wedding tomorrow. It’s my first one. Pray I’d speak the word of God faithfully and be engaging. Pray for Marty and Katrina that they’d have a marriage that honours Christ.
>Christmas etc – opportunities to talk about Jesus, good times with family and friends, greater trust in the King of Christmas.

This could well be the final post for 2006. Thanks for reading. I’d love to know what you want to see more/less of on eternal weight of glory in 2007.

Youth Ministry: 12 days until Christmas

Eternal weight of glory has been a bit slow over the past 2 weeks. At least 2 reasons: 1) The blogosphere is a bit quieter at the moment and therefore less comments and 2) I’ve been posting each day on www.ccecyouth.com a 12 days until Christmas countdown. I’ve also reposted them in the bulletins section of myspace.com/ccecyouth

You can view them on our news page here or by clicking on each of the links below:

2 and 1 will pretty much be the best ones yet!! Stay tuned…

Youth Ministry: Web Re-launch

I started playing with a youth group website back in 2002. Since then our youth group site has changed a stack of times. It has been an effective tool and I believe will continue to be an important means of communication in our youth ministry. At our church we have a significant number of newcomers each year. My guess is that at least half of them have checked our church website before coming (which is a big reason why it needs a significant upgrade!).

On February 1 2007 – we will be launching a brand new website for ccecyouth.com The front page and the news page have recently been changed – but they are only temporary.

I’d love your help… If you’re keen to help test the new site – please send me an email. If you know of any well designed websites – please put them in the comments. At the moment we are still deciding between joomla and wordpress – I think I like wordpress

Here are our two latest YouTube videos. The first one is from our end of year party – madde by Renae. The second one is the announcements from Carols on Sunday night.

Cut vs Buff

Yesterday I used a new gym membership provided by Row’s employer for a super cheap price. It’s a great deal, it’s cheap, and you can go to almost any gym or pool on the Central Coast! The bike and treadmill that I used yesterday each had an individual TV built-in – so it was great to watch the English Premier League highlights!!

My weight loss goals are going well. But the question I’ve been asked by a number of people is whether I’m going to get buffed up now that I’ve got this sweet pass. My answer – No – I’d rather be cut.

What’s BUFF? I could easily be buff cos I’m already big – but I don’t want to be a big-bulky-beefcake. What’s CUT? I think cut is when you are well defined but not so big that you have to go through the door sideways! I figure I want to be fit and healthy for 2 reasons: 1) It’s a good thing and 2) So that I can run longer in the Christian life. I figure if I can’t look after myself at 26 then it will be pretty difficult at 46 or 56.

Do you gym it up? Aiming for BUFF or CUT???

I’m off to go for a swim with my fancy new pass…

Prayer Friday #015

Special Edition:
>Pray for my sister (Jen) and her husband (Martin) as they move ready to start working with AFES at Newcastle Uni next year.
>They have a dessert night at my place this coming Monday night from 7:45pm. You’re more than welcome to come if you know them and are interested in finding out more about their ministry and different ways you can support them.

(can you see the pink shirt bandit in the background!!!)

More 2 Life – basketball GF

Hey dudes. More2Life are playing in the Senior Men’s C grade Terrigal Stadium Basketball Grand Final tonight. Tip-off is at 8pm. Come with black and white pom-poms if you can make it! While on the subject of basketball – I think that Michael Jordan is the all-time greatest sports person. He delivered when it mattered… he regularly scored 3-point buzzer-beaters to win games.

Who do you think is the greatest ever sportsman and sportswoman and why? You can’t nominate yourself or me (I do come close though…)
