BRINGING HOPE IN IRAQ // UPDATE FROM OPEN DOORS #WeAreN

On 10 June 2014, Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS – now known as Islamic State) seize Iraq’s second largest city, Mosul.

An estimated half a million residents join a mass exodus out of the city, many heading east to Qaraqosh or north to places like Dohuk and Erbil.

For more than 30 years, Open Doors has supported Christians in the Middle East – including 20 years in Iraq.

Take a look around one of the churches Open Doors supports in Erbil, Iraq and see what life is like for those taking refuge at the church.

  1. The marking of that letter reminds me of what the Nazi’s did to the Jews in the beginning. It is very scary when you think about it. I pray that ISIS can be stopped before history repeats itself, and we begin to see death camps being built. I studied world war two and the Nazi regime very intensely in an effort to learn the whole truth. What I am seeing today is absolutely chilling and extremely disturbing. I am trying not to hate the muslims, but it is an everyday battle to continue to follow what Jesus said… To love the sinner and hate the sin. It is only through my faith in Christ and His strength that keeps the hate from my heart, and gives me peace in this troubled world. May god bless you all and keep you safe from harm.

  2. We are in one way forming teams to help in whatever way we can…esp. the persecuted one in the Middle East, not only refugees…we need good contacts in the field so we can channel the teams…like in Iraq, Lebanon, Turkey, Syria, Jordan…
