The search for happiness #1
Ashamed
The NIV New Testament Bible on MP3 NIV Old Testament Bible on MP3 I listened to all of Hebrews today. It only took 38 minutes, and while it doesn’t replace slow and detailed study of the Bible, it’s a fantastic way to get the big picture of whole books in the Bible. Today I noticed the word “ashamed” in Hebrews. I’ve noticed it in both Hebrews 2:11 and 11:16 before, but never in the same sitting.
In 2:11 Jesus isn’t ashamed to call Christians his “brothers” and in 11:16 God isn’t ashamed to be called “God” by his People. Incredible! God the Father and God the Son are not ashamed to bring us into their family. We are often ashamed and embarrased to call Jesus “brother” or to say we belong to “God”, yet he isn’t the embarassing family-member, we are!
Praise be to God for the “better word” spoken through Jesus’ blood and that he tasted death for his brothers so that we wouldn’t have to! Are you part of the family?

Don’t steal God’s Glory #4
Why do people get glory? Because of who they are and/or what they’ve done. A politician or monarch or employer will get glory because of who they are. A successful athlete or cure-finding scientist or trophy-winning chef will get glory because of what they’ve done.
Why does God deserve all glory? It’s because of who he is AND what he has done.
Mark Driscoll, Sydney + Australia
I’m looking forward to Mark Driscoll’s visit to Australia in August 2008. Driscoll speaks about Jesus more than most preachers and I’m thankful to God for the way He has worked through him in Seattle and more broadly through the internet.
I’ve been getting a stack of people landing on my site (see bottom for the list) looking for information about Driscoll’s speaking engagements while in Australia. So here is an attempt to bring them all onto the one page. There are some other events that aren’t yet public (will link when they are) and as far as I can tell all the ones below are public. Let me know if you have any other dates to add.
