I’m looking forward to Mark Driscoll’s visit to Australia in August 2008. Driscoll speaks about Jesus more than most preachers and I’m thankful to God for the way He has worked through him in Seattle and more broadly through the internet.
I’ve been getting a stack of people landing on my site (see bottom for the list) looking for information about Driscoll’s speaking engagements while in Australia. So here is an attempt to bring them all onto the one page. There are some other events that aren’t yet public (will link when they are) and as far as I can tell all the ones below are public. Let me know if you have any other dates to add.
Saturday 23 August
RICE Rally – Mark will be preaching at this massive Asian youth event. Here’s Mark’s Video Invite. It’s at the Entertainment Centre and it’s for teenagers – so check ya head and listen to Sam!
Sunday 24 August
St Thomas’ North Sydney – Mark will be preaching at a combined 5pm and 7pm service @ 6pm.
Monday 25 August
When God Speaks – pastors conference on the Central Coast. John Woodhouse will be speaking in the morning from Colossians 1 and Mark Driscoll will be speaking in the afternoon. “Mark will stiffen our backbone to keep the Scriptures central in the face of so many other competing fads and new ideas for ministry and growth. He will also address the tension between connecting with contemporary culture and remaining faithful to the Scriptures.”
LOVIN’ THE COAST – Driscoll on the Coast – this is a combined churches event from 7pm @ Mingara on the Central Coast. “Mark Driscoll will speak about how being on mission with Jesus is the best way to love the Coast. This will be a night to challenge Christians to be on mission with Jesus.” (Rego opens July 1)
Tuesday 26 August
SICK OF RELIGION? – Driscoll on the Coast – this is a combined churches event from 7pm @ Mingara on the Central Coast. “Mark Driscoll will speak about how following Jesus has nothing to do with religion. This is a night to bring your friends to hear the good news about Jesus.” (Rego opens July 1)
Wednesday 27 August
BURN YOUR PLASTIC JESUS – Hosted by KCC from 7pm @ The Sydney Entertainment Centre. “Mark Driscoll takes a blow torch to the 21st Century Jesus, and rediscovers the Jesus of the New Testament.” This event includes guest musician Nathan Tasker.
Thursday 28 August
“All Things to all men by all means…?” – 10am-3pm @ The Queensland Theological College. “In this exciting one-day conference for pastors, church leaders, and theological students, Mark Driscoll will challenge us to be doctrinally faithful and culturally relevant.”
BURN YOUR PLASTIC JESUS – A mens only event hosted by 300 Men for Jesus + MPC in Queensland. From 7:30pm. “We hope men will come who are keen to be challenged about who Jesus is, and what he means for us as men in 21st century Australia.”
Friday 29 – Sunday 31 August
ENGAGE CONFERENCE – hosted by KCC. Mark will be speaking with Don Carson at this conference aimed at young workers. It’s already booked out.
Monday 1 September
2008 Ministry Intensive – hosted by Sydney Cathedral. Mark will be speaking with Don Carson, Kent Hughes and Barbara Hughes. He will be speaking in two sessions on Monday: LESSONS FROM THE AREOPAGUS + REACHING THE NEXT GENERATION from 11am-4pm.
