LOOKING FOR A BIBLE READING PLAN? NOT TOO LATE TO JOIN #BIBLESTOTT

One week down, fifty-one to go! A week ago I shared a new Bible reading plan by John Stott that I have just begun. You can read all about it here: davemiers.com/BibleStott. Basically it’s an overview of the whole Bible based around some key dates in the church calendar.

Here are 5 reasons I am really enjoying this plan:

1. IT’S SHORT // Each day’s bible reading is only one or two verses. This means it is very achievable.
2. IT’S LONG // Each day there is an optional extra reading section, cross references in the devotion that can be looked up, as well as reading the whole chapter that that day’s verse comes from. So while it’s short, you can stretch it out longer and deeper.
3. STOTT’S COMMENTS // I’ve already written in my original post that John Stott was one of my favourite authors. After a week of reading these devotions, I’m even more convinced of this! His comments are profound and yet concise and accessible. The first week of readings are from parts of the Bible I’m very familiar with – yet felt challenged and better equipped to explain these truths to others.
4. READING TOGETHER // There are about 20 people I know that are working through the same plan. I have appreciate seeing their tweets and status updates on the material as well as chatting with people offline. (See below for some of the tweets coming through using the #BibleStott hashtag)
5. ANTICIPATION // After each morning reading God’s Word and Stott’s comments – I genuinely look forward to the next morning and reading the next section. I hope and pray that anticipation and expectation continues!
