Pinch + Punch // March 2010

Welcome to an exciting new monthly blog series at dmdc: Pinch + Punch! It may look like a re-branding of a previous lamely named series – but it’s oh so much more! // March isn’t too hectic at college, but I’ve got quite a few speaking opportunities. So hoping I can preach well AND work hard at college even though there isn’t much due.

I planned on trying to design a desktop wallpaper each month. Let’s be real. That’s not going to happen. So above is my favourite from the March selection at Smashing Magazine. It’s called: Haiku on Hanami. I’m not very good at poetry. But I want to be. So I’m hoping it will inspire me to greater poetic poetry poetiness. Or not.

Here’s the best of February (according to clicks) and some other stats:

If you’ve read this far – you have to leave a comment in the form of a Haiku poem. 5-7-5. Thanks.

Goodbye November 09 | Hello December 09

The name of this monthly blog post is lame. I’m sorry. Stay tuned for a phenomenal relaunch next month. Warm fuzzy if you can help the creative process (ie – hit me up with suggestions). December is here. We know what that means. All of the cicadas are currently at my window singing an ode to Summer. Bring it. I’m resolved to toughen up my soft feet this Summer. I know you’re interested, so I’ll keep you posted.

I’ve been out of the country (and off the blog) for 1/3 of November, but still a bit of blog growth. Thanks for reading.

Goodbye October 09 | Hello November 09

Yesterday was October 31 – also known as Reformation Day. I think the Reformation is the goods. For the last few years, I’ve posted some reflections on the Reformation. Not this year. So here’s some links to the past 3 years: 2008; 2007; 2006. Today is November 1 – also known as the beginning of Movember. Last year I dominated in growing a Mo – this year I’m not allowed. If you’re growing a Mo – leave a link in the comments to let people know how they can give some coin. Hey hey – November is also Aus Music Month over at Triple J. Oh yeah and November is also exam month… grrrrr.

Goodbye September 09 | Hello October 09

Hey party people. Good news – we have the internet back at home! 2.5 months without it was a little bit inconvenient. I don’t want to use this blog to publicly shame our old internet and telephone provider (if you’re looking for internet and want to steer clear of them, ask me in person), but it’s worth saying that TELSTRA have been super helpful in getting the phone line working again and TPG likewise have been rockin the suburbs getting the internet flowing again. Woot. While on the subject of corporate advertising – we’ve recently changed mobile companies to VODAFONE. I have that free nights and weekends to other Vodafone peeps. Let me know if you’re also on Vodafone.

Goodbye July 09 | Hello August 09

Welcome back to ‘Goodbye Hello‘ for another month… Our internet has been down for a bit – so posting has been a bit more sporadic during July. We’re currently getting new internet etc, so all those who are waiting on the edge of their key board for fresh content won’t have to wait much longer. Here’s the smashing magazine desktop calendar I’ve chosen for August:

Goodbye June 09 | Hello July 09

The life-changing ‘Goodbye Hello‘ continues again this month… July is normally crazy camp season, but I’ve said no to crazy camps to spend time at home and have a crazy camp with Row and Sam. VERY good times. They are both doing well. I’ve also been doing some design work. Here’s the smashing magazine desktop calendar I’ve chosen for July:
