ZAC’S STORY // AMAZING VIDEO RECORDED 3 MONTHS BEFORE TRAGIC DEATH

ZAC'S STORY

Zac Young was tragically killed by a shark in November 2013. The following is an inspiring testimony of Jesus’ work in his life recorded 3 months before the attack. Of course he had no idea this was going to happen, but in it you will hear of a young man able to confidently face death because of his hope in Jesus.

  1. Zac mentions god talking to him like it was a literal thing he experienced… how does that work? I can’t say I’ve personally experienced God literally speaking to me and telling me what to do?

    1. hey jono, thanks for the comment!
i watched this video a week ago, and i’m currently using a computer that doesn’t have sound… so i can’t re-watch it to check the quotes… but i more or less remember when he said things like you’ve suggested.

      1. God does literally speak to us through his word. So keep listening!
      2. God can speak in audible ways to individuals. There are many examples of this in the Old Testament.
      3. We ought not expect God to speak to us with an audible voice. Hebrews 1:1 says

1In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.

So while God can speak in strange ways, we ought not to expect it or even seek it.

      4. My guess is that Zac is using the language of God telling him, in the sense that he felt convicted to act in a certain way or maybe even a little bit in hindsight as he sees how things worked out.

      5. Our ultimate authority for life and faith are the Holy Scriptures. To elevate my own experience above the scriptures is really dangerous and not a good pattern to start!

      thoughts?

    2. Hey Jono! :)

I wanted to share with you my experience with that. At the beginning of this year, id committed to this being the first year in my life that I had solely used Gods voice as my guidance for what was going to happen with my year. I truly wanted my actions to give glory to His name BUT… I didn’t know how to hear Him except through His word. I knew that with enough investment into the relationship (talking with him, praying to Him, being still in His overwhelmingly Loving Presence) that I could be certain of when He gave me direction, eventually. So I began praying my butt off to “hear His voice”. I agree with Dave that His word is the place to be for this but I can tell in your inquiry that you’re suspecting that theres something different. You’re right – you see it – there is!

My first time experiencing His DIRECT guidance and “voice” was this January when I was going to purchase something that defined a characteristic of mine. Its a book called Strength Finder 2.0. It helps you find your strong characteristics and personality features so that you can use them to your advantage in life and, in my case, my business. Well I instinctively associate Jesus as my Strength so I said to myself, “Who am I to seek away from Him for my strength?” So, sitting at my computer with the mouse on the checkout button, closed my eyes and gave my hear tin prayer. I asked Him if this was something I shouldn’t be getting myself into – if it would glorify Him at all. INSTANTLY, my entire body was saturated in a thick and overwhelming Love. I mean I don’t know how else to describe it besides a “spiritual hug” at an unimaginable level like I was being held. I was comfortable, with goose bumps and literally smiling from Joy in my spirit. I was high – not like drug high but with a sort of a weightless, loose sway of light energy that I was submersed in. It was His approval. He “spoke to me” and lead me. The revelation that I received with in seconds after is that I can search in what ever way I feel to find my strengths as I already know that it is to His Glory that I even have any strengths at all.

      1. Oh one more thing…. PRAY IT OUT… the fact that He knows your heart and that you’re even wondering about hearing His voice is having Him stir something specific to that desire up in you. He hears you. You don’t even have to repeat prayers. He heard the first one and doesn’t forsake a second of you. PRAY to hear Him and you will hear His voice!

  2. Hey, thanks for the reply.

Yea that was well thought out and makes a lot of sense. Especially with the ideas of hindsight and the hebrews passage.

Thanks for clearing that up for me!

    1. rewatching right now…

the 2min45sec bit – he talks about God spoke to me about 2 roads… 1 wide road and 1 narrow read. wide leads to destruction and that’s the one you’re on.

that is consistent with Jesus’ teaching. ie it’s not some new teaching.

so whether he heard it audibly, or the holy spirit reminded him of these truths he’d heard before… it’s consistent with what God has already revealed in his word

  3. As a fellow Christian… what a amazing testimony of Gods love. JESUS name has been glorified through what Zac stood for…amen.
