UNASHAMED + RICE + CONFIRMATION + MORE MISSION

I’m in the middle of a particularly busy time at the moment. (Sorry if I haven’t replied to your email!) Lots of good things going on at St Faith’s and Soulies as well as some external ministry opportunities. This blog post is a quick highlights package…

UNASHAMED – Friday night was great!! Over 350 young punks turned up to our northern beaches combined youth event! Awesome music by City Surrender (from St Paul’s Castle Hill) and a very sharp and pointy sermon from Ross Ciano. Approx 15 responded to the gospel with a bunch more recommitting themselves to following Jesus. Lots to thank God for, a few things to iron out if we do it again.

RICE – there were about 4000 young crew in at the Sydney Entertainment Centre for the rally. I really enjoyed the stripped back program… it actually finished early! Sam Chan gave an absolute cracker of a talk from Luke 19:1-10. I don’t know how many responded to the gospel, but there were hundreds… maybe 250-300? That’s a guess. I had the privilege of praying with 6 young guys afterwards. Such a buzz. Such a joy.

CONFIRMATION – I’ve really enjoyed the last month of Confirmation Classes with a bunch of year 10s and some older lads. We spent quality time learning the basics of Christianity from a John Stott outline and working through the catechism in the Anglican Prayer Book. Solid stuff. Sunday night was the confirmation service. Really encouraging. Killer sermon from the Bish (Glenn Davies). Packed house. Good vibe.

MORE MISSION – I’ve given 5 talks at universities across Sydney in the last week with 2 more to go this week. Lots of Christian uni students across the 3 campuses have been excited to be on mission together with many of them bringing guests to each event. I’ve had some good chats with people and know there have been a few respond to the gospel with many more keen to keep checking out Jesus. Rad.

Praise God for good gear going down.

Pinch + Punch // July 2011

New reader of this blog? Pinch + Punch will give you a run down of some popular gear on DMDC for the past month. Likewise, you can check out my about page and/or archives. I’m thinking of selling some targeted advertising on this blog. It would be events/products that I think are relevant to readers of this blog. The aim wouldn’t be to make a squillion dollars, I have a job! But I am keen to try and cover some of the costs of this and other web projects. Let me know if you think it’s a dumb idea!! Or if you’d be interested in buying a spot.

I wrote you a song

Today is our 8 year wedding anniversary. Here’s a recent pic of Rowena with our two young punks. When I proposed to Row, I wrote her a song – the last line was the proposal. She said yes. I considered writing her another song. Time is one issue; talent is the other… I’m a one hit wonder. So I got one of my friends to put this one together. Thanks Mick:

According to the most recent Australian Bureau of Stats figures I could find, the average Australian marriage lasts for just over 8 years. So I’m praying we’d help to take the average higher! I’m praying that for you too.

I gave Row some books, flowers and chocolate. She gave me some music and another son. We’re going out for dinner on Thursday night. At the risk of public display of affection… Love ya Row!

Here’s some previous anniversary blog posts: 3rd; 5th; 6th; 7th.

Pinch + Punch // June 2011

Pinch + Punch is the monthly post that doesn’t really say much. But if you’re new to dmdc, then it might give you some highlights from the last month. If you missed my 50 tweets proclaiming the good news, we had a new edition to our family during May. Praise God! Find pics here, here and here. June has now begun, so has winter. I wore shorts today to celebrate! Here’s my selection of the June smashing mag desktop calendars:
